Summer Undergraduate Student joins our group

Maria Lorenson, sophomore from University of Minnesota-Duluth in Duluth, MN joins our group end of May to work for 10 weeks as Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) fellow.

Maria is majoring Chemistry and works on minor in Chemical Engineering Her research project at NDSU relates to synthesis, characterization and polymerization of vinyl monomer from sunflower oil. Maria works under supervision of Zoriana Demchuk.
SURE program is operated by Coatings and Polymeric Materials Department to provide undergraduate students (usually juniors and seniors) the opportunity to experience a research environment and to encourage them to pursue a higher degree. Coatings and Polymeric Materials offers this program each year. The program serves in educating the next generation of specialists in the field of polymers and coatings, as many students who attend this program go on to graduate school at NDSU, in this department.
