Our Group Participates in ACS Regional Meeting

20170629_140959Kyle, Zoriana, Oksana, Vasylyna and Ihor present their research at ACS Grand Lakes Regional Meeting in Fargo, ND on June,27-30. Oral presentations of Kyle, Zoriana and Oksana are scheduled in Polymer Chemistry-General Papers session. Kyle will present on Phenomenology of plant oil-based monomers in emulsion copolymerization, Zoriana’s presentation is entitled Free Radical Polymerization of Acrylic Monomers from Plant Oils, Oksana will talk about Mixed micellar assemblies as polymer adjuvants for vaccines development. Both Vasylyna and Ihor present posters at Polymer Chemistry – General Papers poster session. Vasylyna’s poster is entitled Free radical homopolymerization of monomer from olive oil triglycerides, Ihor presents poster on Acrylic monomers and polymers based on plant oils for application in coatings.

GLRM2017ACS Regional Meetings are organized by ACS Local Sections (Great Lakes Chapter in this case) and reflect the diverse professional interests in specific geographic regions. These meetings feature excellent technical programs on a variety of topics, poster sessions, expositions, and social events over the course of a three to four day period.   The smaller size of an ACS Regional Meeting allows for a greater opportunity for interactions between attendees. New International Students Exchange Program at Coatings and Polymeric Materials Department

In accordance with signed Memorandum of Understanding between Lviv Polytechnic National University and NDSU, Voronov leads an effort on developing Summer Undergraduate Research Experience in USA (USURE) program for Ukrainian students. During summer 2018, NDSU Department of Coatings and Polymeric Materials (CPM) offers research internships for students in their senior year majoring food chemistry, chemical engineering and related fields as well as first- or second-year graduate students in Polymer Science/Physical Chemistry and related fields

Research projects in following areas will be offered to LPNU interns: synthesis of biobased polymers, synthesis of high performance polymers, coatings corrosion protection, coatings weathering durability, polymers for biomedical applications, computational polymeric materials. Students will receive a stipend. Reasonably priced housing is available on NDSU campus. Students are responsible for cost of transportation, housing, US visa. Voronov becomes DAAD Research Ambassador

Voronov was nominated and chosen to serve as DAAD Research Ambassador for study and research in Germany for academic year 2017/18. daadDAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst, German Academic Exchange Service) is the world’s largest funding organization for the international exchange of students and researchers. It was founded in 1925, around two million scholars in Germany and abroad have received DAAD funding. The DAAD promotes German studies and the German language abroad, assists developing countries in establishing effective universities and advises decision makers on matters of cultural, education and development policy. In 2016, the DAAD funded more than 131.000 German and international scholars worldwide

DAAD Research Ambassadors are scholars and scientists from North America who have conducted advanced long-term research projects in Germany and are interested in promoting research in Germany at their home universities and among their peers and students with the help of DAAD. The DAAD Research Ambassadors are intended to be an experienced and knowledgeable cadre of academics and scientists who will inform students and researchers in the USA and Canada about Germany as a research destination and to foster collaborations with German colleagues. Research Ambassadors are available to advise students, fellow scholars and scientists, as well as ministries and university administrators, and make efforts to motivate young scholars to conduct research in Germany. Voronov gives a presentation and chairs the Congress

AOCS2017

Voronov gives a presentation entitled Free Radical Polymerization of Monomers Based on Plant Oils at 2017 American Oil Chemists Society Annual Meeting and Industry Showcases in Orlando, Florida on April,30 – May,3. The American Oil Chemists’ Society (AOCS) is an international professional organization based in Urbana, Illinois dedicated to providing the support network for those involved with the science and technology related to fatsoils, surfactants, and other related materials.

AOCS holds the international Annual Meeting every year for both members and non-members. In 2009, the 100th annual meeting was held in Orlando, Florida, USA, celebrating the centennial of the organization. In addition to the Annual Meeting, there are several other smaller events held throughout the year. These meetings cover topics ranging from edible oil refining to lipid oxidation to biodiesel technologies. For more details,  https://www.aocs.org and http://annualmeeting.aocs.org

NewTech2017

Also Voronov serves as a Chair of the 3rd World Congress on New Technologies (NewTech’17) in Rome, Italy (June, 6-8). This event is composed of four co-located conferences, 8th International Conference on Nanotechnology: Fundamentals and Applications, 7th International Conference on Environmental Pollution and Remediation, 3rd International Conference on Biotechnology and Bioengineering and International Conference on Energy Research and Technology. Each conference consists of an individual separate topic, but all of them share considerable overlap which is a basic idea for organizing this congress. The main goal is to bring together experts in various disciplines and fields from closely related but still different research areas. NDSU signed Memorandum of Understanding with Ukrainian Institution

Voronov led the effort on preparing and signing of Memorandum of Understanding in order to promote further cooperation between Lviv Polytechnic National University (LPNU) in Ukraine and NDSU. The objectives of this agreement are to develop long-term cooperative activities, in particular, share knowledge, develop collaborative research and education programs, develop exchange and professional development programs for students, staff and faculty, conduct seminars and workshops, cultural exchange through mutual assistance in the areas of education and research, share new technologies and new methods of management through extension and other programs, seek funding opportunities for joint activities which provide mutual benefit to each institution’s teaching, research and outreach programs. Both institutions agree to develop and establish provisions for program implementation that will serve the mutual interest of both institutions.

The linkage program at NDSU will be supervised by the Department of Coatings and Polymeric Materials. The program at Lviv Polytechnic National University will be under the jurisdiction of the Department of Organic Chemistry.
