Our Group Participates in ACS Regional Meeting

20170629_140959Kyle, Zoriana, Oksana, Vasylyna and Ihor present their research at ACS Grand Lakes Regional Meeting in Fargo, ND on June,27-30. Oral presentations of Kyle, Zoriana and Oksana are scheduled in Polymer Chemistry-General Papers session. Kyle will present on Phenomenology of plant oil-based monomers in emulsion copolymerization, Zoriana’s presentation is entitled Free Radical Polymerization of Acrylic Monomers from Plant Oils, Oksana will talk about Mixed micellar assemblies as polymer adjuvants for vaccines development. Both Vasylyna and Ihor present posters at Polymer Chemistry – General Papers poster session. Vasylyna’s poster is entitled Free radical homopolymerization of monomer from olive oil triglycerides, Ihor presents poster on Acrylic monomers and polymers based on plant oils for application in coatings.

GLRM2017ACS Regional Meetings are organized by ACS Local Sections (Great Lakes Chapter in this case) and reflect the diverse professional interests in specific geographic regions. These meetings feature excellent technical programs on a variety of topics, poster sessions, expositions, and social events over the course of a three to four day period.   The smaller size of an ACS Regional Meeting allows for a greater opportunity for interactions between attendees. Voronov gives a presentation and chairs the Congress

Voronov gives a presentation entitled Free Radical Polymerization of Monomers Based on Plant Oils at 2017 American Oil Chemists Society Annual Meeting and Industry Showcases in Orlando, Florida on April,30 – May,3. The American Oil Chemists’ Society (AOCS) is an international professional organization based in Urbana, Illinois dedicated to providing the support network for those involved with the science and technology related to fatsoils, surfactants, and other related materials.

AOCS holds the international Annual Meeting every year for both members and non-members. In 2009, the 100th annual meeting was held in Orlando, Florida, USA, celebrating the centennial of the organization. In addition to the Annual Meeting, there are several other smaller events held throughout the year. NewTech2017

Also Voronov serves as a Chair of the 3rd World Congress on New Technologies (NewTech’17) in Rome, Italy (June, 6-8). This event is composed of four co-located conferences, 8th International Conference on Nanotechnology: Fundamentals and Applications, 7th International Conference on Environmental Pollution and Remediation, 3rd International Conference on Biotechnology and Bioengineering and International Conference on Energy Research and Technology. Each conference consists of an individual separate topic, but all of them share considerable overlap which is a basic idea for organizing this congress. The main goal is to bring together experts in various disciplines and fields from closely related but still different research areas. Zoriana, Oksana, Kyle present at ACS Spring Meeting

Kyle Kingsley, Zoriana Demchuk, and Oksana Zholobko present their research at various symposia during 253rd American Chemical Society meeting in San Francisco, CA on April, 2-6. There will be 2 oral and 4 poster presentations by members of our group at this year ACS Spring meeting. Kyle’s oral presentation is entitled Emulsion copolymerization kinetics of plant oil-based monomers. He presents at symposium New Horizons in Sustainable Materials organized by Division of Cellulose and Renewable Materials. At the same symposium, Zoriana talks about her research on Plant oil-Based Acrylic Monomers for Free Radical Polymerization. All posters brought by our group members to San Francisco are presented at joint POLY-PMSE session of Polymeric Materials: Science and Engineering (PMSE) and Polymer Chemistry Division (POLY). Kyle’s poster is entitled Effect of plant oil unsaturation on emulsion copolymerization with vinyl monomers, Zoriana presents on Synthesis of latexes from Plant oil-based acrylic monomers, titles of Oksana’s two posters are Mixed Micellar Assembles as Polymer Adjuvants for Peptide Administration and 1H NMR Study on Polymer-Peptide Mixed Micelles for Adjuvant Application. Voronov Attends Humboldt Colloquium

As former Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship recipient, Voronov is invited to participate in Humboldt Colloquium entitled “Global Research in the 21st Century: Perspectives of the US Humboldt Network” to be held in Washington, DC on March, 2-4. The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation promotes academic cooperation between scientists and scholars from Germany and countries around the world. It grants more than 700 research fellowships and research awards annually to individual researchers who become life-long members of an international community of distinguished researchers, the so-called “Humboldt Network”. Roughly 5,000 “Humboldtians” are currently based in the US, many of them in leading positions at universities, research organizations and other institutions across the country. With this Humboldt Colloquium, the Foundation seeks to recognize the expertise of the Humboldt community in the US, bringing members of the network from different fields and generations together for a dialogue on key topics of international cooperation and internationalization.

Alexander von Humboldt Foundation

Voronov has been awarded Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship in 2000 and Alexander von Humboldt Long-Term Fellowship in 2001 to carry research at University of Bayreuth. His research topic was related to surface modification with polymers for suppressing dewetting.  At March Colloquium, Voronov gives a presentation on his current research.
