2018 Summer Undergraduate Student joins our group

Hermella Eshete, junior from University of Southern Mississippi joins our group end of May to work for 10 weeks as Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) fellow.hermella.jpg

Hermella is majoring Biochemistry. Her research project at NDSU relates to study on feasibility of copolymerization of vinyl monomers from plant oils (developed in our group) with cardanol-based monomers and further developing fully biobased latexes. This is an ongoing collaborative effort with Dr.Sylvain Caillol from French National Centre for Scientific Research, Effect of monomer ratio in reaction feed on cross-linking degree and properties of latex polymer films will be studied. At NDSU, Hermella works under supervision of Zoriana Demchuk.

SURE program is operated by Coatings and Polymeric Materials Department to provide undergraduate students (usually juniors and seniors) the opportunity to experience a research environment and to encourage them to pursue a higher degree. Coatings and Polymeric Materials offers this program each year. The program serves in educating the next generation of specialists in the field of polymers and coatings, as many students who attend this program go on to graduate school at NDSU, in this department. For more details and/or to apply for next year SURE program, https://www.ndsu.edu/cpm/summer_undergraduate_research_experience/
